New West Kent College Website Receives National Award

We're delighted to announce that the new West Kent College website has received a prestigious national award. The site, which was launched in July, scooped Silver at the FE First Awards, which celebrate the best in college marketing.

The win was announced at a black-tie awards evening, hosted at the Hilton in Stratford-upon-Avon on the 27thNovember, with representatives from our Marketing & Communications team attending to collect the award.

WK Award

Entered into the hotly contested class of “Best College Web Development Project", which this year saw more entries than in previous years, the website was up against three other shortlisted colleges on the night.  Barnsley College came away with “Highly Commended", Lewisham Southwark College was also awarded a Silver and City College Plymouth pipped us to the post to take the Gold.

Commenting on the entry, the judges praised the quality of the submission and the process of development, including the involvement of students in the decision-making process, the use of personas to ensure the website was targeted at the right audiences and the overall commitment to outstanding user-experience. The focus on SMART targets was also commended, especially around the demonstrable impact that the website had had on applications during the summer period, with 19 applications received for full-time further education courses in the first week and, over the subsequent two weeks, an average of five applications per day (i.e. 35 per week).

Neil Lakeland, Group Head of Marketing & Communications, said “This is a great achievement for the team, and testament to the work that was undertaken ensuring the site met the needs of the organisation. As a college, this represents a significant step forward and we can now, proudly say, that our website is “award-winning" and one of the best in the sector."

The Group marketing team are also planning on entering the new Ashford website, and potentially the Hadlow Group or new Hadlow College (once it is launched) websites into further awards, and will keep you updated on any successes that are achieved.
