Our Graphic Design students were recently involved in a project with leading construction company, Kier Group.
Kier’s Submissions Manager, Louise Wilson, and Pre-construction Manager, Peter Radley-Martin, visited the college to deliver a twohour design brief to the students, who were tasked with creating infographics covering the company’s design management and supply chain processes. The students then had four weeks to undertake the design work, with Kier returning for a mid-project review.
Kier were so impressed with the results, they decided to award prizes to those whose work was selected. Five winners were chosen from several design pieces, which will be used in Kier’s tender submission documents for large local authority, government and private contracts. Whenever the designs are featured within these tender submission documents, the students will be sent a copy.
The initiative offered the students invaluable commercial experience, working to the timeframe expectations of a private client and developing a good relationship with them.
Pictured top, from left to right, are: Louise Wilson, Luke Morgan, Jenevieve Pearce, Jacob Judd and Peter Radley-Martin. Alex Greenleaf’s work was also selected.
Examples of the work, and how it was incorporated into Kier’s literature, are shown above.
