The CIPD's new Foundation Certificate in Human Resource Practice provides a firm foundation in key areas of Human Resource Practice and is ideal for people who:

- are aspiring to, or embarking on, a career in human resources; or
- are already working in the field of human resource practice and aim to re-assess and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours as an human resource practitioner

The course helps students to develop a wide range of practical skills, knowledge and understanding and above all confidence to be more effective at work. Students will develop greater understanding of the organisations they work for, the staff they support, and the key work skills and behaviours valued by employers such as communication skills, work-management behaviours, and collaborative working behaviours.

We provide tuition on Tuesday evenings at Tonbridge, and Wednesday evenings at Ashford, from 5 pm to 9 pm, starting on Tuesday 12 September and Wednesday 13 September with enrolment, induction plus the first teaching. The classes run to term dates, so there will be a half term at the end of October, plus Christmas break of two weeks, plus half term in February and an Easter break. We do not tend to take a half term in the summer term and continue until the middle of July.

In addition to teaching, individual tutorials are delivered usually on the day of teaching, but sometimes by mutual arrangement at other days and times. An assessment schedule will be provided at the start of the course along with a course handbook giving information about the College, the assessment process and other key information.

There is no external examination – all units are assessed by assignment which can take the form of reports, briefing notes, presentations or role play.

CIPD state a minimum attendance level, full details of which will be given at interview.

The fee for the Certificate is £1295 for tuition, plus £40 registration fee. In addition, there is a membership fee payable to CIPD which is usually between £90 and £130, depending on whether the student is a first time member and on any offers CIPD have at the time. You will be able find the details on the CIPD site. The course is eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan for which the maximum amount for tuition is £1265. If you apply to the College, we will give you a letter to send to the Student Finance England confirming your intention to take the course.

Contributing to the Process of Job Analysis (3CJA) - 3 Credits
Supporting Change Within Organisations (3SCO) - 3 Credits
Advanced Learner Loan

The academic standard is A level standard, so students are expected to have GCSE English grade C or above, or demonstrate that they have a standard of literacy parallel to that level.

The qualification is designed for those already working in an HR role, or those wanting to move to a HR role.
