An introductory level course for musicians who want to perform, write and record music while developing their English and maths.

You will gain tuition on your first instrument, whilst learning about the technical and stylistic characteristics of different genres of music. You will also study music theory and composition to expand your harmonic, melodic and rhythmic knowledge.

You will be required to work effectively and professionally in groups in order to prepare for live performance.

You will participate in at least five public performances throughout the year to demonstrate your performance development.

Progress on to a higher level course in Music, as long as you achieve a Merit or Distinction and GCSE English and Maths at Grade 3/D or Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills qualifications. You will be auditioned for a place in order to demonstrate your practical and creative ability.

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D-G/3-1, including English and maths at minimum Grade E/2.

You will attend an audition and interview to show us your musical abilities. Your enrolment also depends on a positive recommendation or reference from your school or tutor.
