Prepare for work in professional catering in hotels, restaurants and pubs.
This is a hands-on introduction to methods of cooking and basic food hygiene within a working kitchen.
You will be assessed by observation of your skills, coursework and complete a portfolio. As part of the course, you will also be required to complete customer service skills in our restaurant and attend work placements. Your course will include:
• Introduction to hospitality and catering
• Introduction to kitchen equipment
• Food preparation and cooking skills
• Health and Safety in the workplace
• Food safety in catering
• Customer Service skills
Functional skills or GCSE English and maths are a key part of this course. You will need to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier.
You could progress on to the Level 2 Catering course.
