Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology

The creative media sector offers a vast number of career paths and on this course you will explore a wide variety of skills and techniques prized by employers across various creative industries including:

• Research skills and ideas/concept development
• Production techniques and processes
• Understanding how to target an audience

The course is structured as a series of creative projects,
allowing you to produce a portfolio of practical
production work which may include: moving image, animation, basic web design, publishing, pod-casting and photography.

You will also develop your employability skills through teamwork and presentations.

Alongside your practical work you will also study key media concepts including audience theory and the effects of media messages. In the final term you will be given the opportunity to work on your own creative media project which will be exhibited in our end of year show.

You will attend College visits which may include film & TV studios, galleries and exhibitions.

You will also study English and maths if you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade C/4 in these subjects.

You could progress to a Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, Graphic Design or Photography course if you achieve a Merit or Distinction and GCSEs at Grade 4/C in English and maths.


You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths or alternatively a Level 1 Diploma in a Creative or related subject at Merit or Distinction level, and functional skills qualifications in English and maths at Level 1 or above.

You will be required to attend an interview and present work from a pre-interview task.

A positive recommendation or reference from your school or tutor will also be required.
