Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology

Focusing on moving image this course provides learners with a keen interest in media a chance to develop their visual communication, practical and analytical skills, whilst exploring the exciting opportunities which exist within the creative sector.

In year 1 you will work towards the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, if you achieve this you can progress onto year two and work towards the Extended Diploma.

You will work on a variety of projects to industry style briefs which will allow you to develop your creative, technical and employability skills. These projects will provide you with the opportunity to undertake a variety of production roles, develop skills in single and multicamera techniques, investigate sound recording and editing to produce practical film and television projects.

All projects emphasise the importance of research and reflection to inform your creative development, together with developing both your communication and team working skills.

There will be trips to develop your understanding of the media industries and visits to and from local media-related companies.

You will build a practical portfolio, undertaking projects in collaboration with other College departments and the wider community.

The final project for each year will be self-initiated and is internally marked and externally moderated by the awarding body. At the end of each year this work will be exhibited in the College End of Year Show.

Progression to higher education to study a variety of creative subjects. Employment opportunities on completion of this course may include specialised apprenticeships, or entry level jobs in the Creative Media Industries.

You will need five GCSEs at Grades A*-C/9-4, including English and maths. Alternatively a Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology at Merit or Distinction with GCSE Grade C/4 in English and maths.
