Politics will develop your knowledge and understanding of political institutions, processes, concepts, theories and issues. In addition to developing your knowledge and understanding, it will enable you to develop the skill of constructing arguments, make supported judgements and draw conclusions. You will develop your analytical and evaluative skills.

The course is 100% exam. At the end of the first year students will sit the AS exam. They will sit the complete A-Level at the end of the second year which includes all of the first year material.

Upon completing this course you can progress onto Higher Education or professional qualifications in subjects such as Government, Law, Economics and Philosophy. A-level politics can also lead to employment requiring analytical skills such as management, finance, government, industry and business environments.

Year 1:
In the first year, students will study the workings of political parties, the media and voting behaviour and the UK's political institutions, alongside the ideologies of liberalism, conservatism, socialism and feminism.

Year 2:
Students will study global politics, including human rights, environmental issues, conflict and the balance of power. Students will discuss where power lies in the international political system and the issues facing the modern world.
