This course is designed for those planning a career within the retail automotive industry as either a technician or associated motor industry employment.

The programme includes:

• Health & safety in the workshop
• Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance
• Removing and replacing units and components relating to engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes and electrical and electronic systems

Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT are a key part of this course. You will be assessed by practical and written tasks and online tests.

You can progress onto a Level 3 course, an Advanced Apprenticeship or employment.

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths. Alternatively, a Level 1 qualification.
