Apprenticeship (Higher) Business Administrator Level 4

Around 4½ million people are engaged in the running of businesses in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in the UK. This apprenticeship is designed to meet the needs of these employers, by attracting new talent into the sector and developing the skills of the existing workforce to replace those who leave or retire. Higher apprentices will work in roles such as office managers, administration team leaders, personal assistants or business development executives.

This apprenticeship builds in softer-skills such as communication, team working, interpersonal skills and the ability to reflect on personal learning. Tasks undertaken by the apprentices will vary depending on the sector in which they are employed, but may include overseeing operational activities, implementing change within organisations, managing teams, monitoring risk and agreeing budgets.

By the end of the programme, the apprentice will be able to:

• build competent business and administration workforce skills
• provide excellent organisational skills
• increase productivity and efficiency
• gain valuable skills, knowledge and professional behaviours

You will need, as a minimum, GCSE grades 9-5 in maths and English, or have achieved Functional Skills Level 2.

Employers are looking to attract people who have a keen interest in business and administration careers. They expect applicants to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude and have at least basic numeracy and literacy skills on which the apprenticeship will build.
