Media students editing footage in the gallery

Media & Photography

With Kent and East Sussex home to a number of design agencies, film-makers, music studios and media outlets, this sector is one of the key priorities for the South-East.

At West Kent College, we offer excellent facilities, which include two TV studios and a control gallery. You will work in our post-production facilities, which include editing booths – both Mac and PC, and a soundproofed voiceover room. We also have audio/radio resources for you to work on in small groups or individually.

Our photography students use our fully equipped darkroom with 18 enlargers and have the opportunity to develop their own photographs. Other facilities include a colour darkroom with colour processor and facilities for printing digital images up to three metres long.

All of our courses include the opportunity to work on your enterprise skills – you will submit work for competitions and working closely with the local media and the community. By the end of your course you should be able to take advantage of the global expansion of these industries and explore jobs within film production, animation and television.

Building on your creative communication skills, the world of Media and Photography can lead to a career as an animator, cameraman, film editor, games developer, producer, studio photographer, social media officer, wildlife photographer and more.

Look out for details of our Creative Media and Photography Shows, to see the fantastic work our students produce.
